DHL has been ESL’s partner since 2018 and is responsible for providing transport logistics, as well as moving stage equipment, monitors and gaming chairs, among other elements. According to the release, the new partnership will see DHL look to deliver over 20 ESL tournaments this year.

“We are very happy to extend our partnership with DHL in what is an exciting time for our company and the esports community at large”, added Ralf Reichert, CEO at ESL Gaming, “With the addition of ESL Mobile, we will be able to provide entertainment to fans across the globe and it’s great to continue on this journey with DHL providing an essential business solution as our official logistics partner.”

Whilst details over DHL’s involvement in the mobile esports series has yet to be revealed, the tournament organiser has cited that the firm will provide ‘support to the European operation of the ESL Mobile programme’.

Due to the pandemic, DHL was only able to deliver six tournaments in 2020. However, the logistics company hosted a variety of online ESL competitions and provided activations throughout the digital events.

Arjan Sissing, Head of Brand Marketing at Deutsche Post DHL Group, added: “Gaming is the fastest-growing form of entertainment globally. I am delighted that we as a logistics provider are part of the esports world and that our partnership has been extended covering a broader spectrum via ‘ESL Mobile’. DHL is celebrated and beloved by the ESL fan base which is the greatest compliment for a sponsor.

“A great success was that we were able to unite gamers even despite online-only tournaments and I am looking forward to many more events to come.”

Both ESL and DHL recently took part in Esports Insider’s Brand Showcases panel at ESI Digital Spring. To view the full panel click here.

Esports Insider says: It’s no surprise to see DHL renew its partnership with ESL, however, it is very intriguing to see what both entities have planned for ESL Mobile. Both brands will be hoping to deliver more offline events this year as the world slowly starts opening up following the pandemic.
