JLINGZ esports teams up with Recast

Jesse Lingard-owned esports organisation JLINGZ esports has partnered with video platform Recast.

The agreement will see fans given access to regular exclusive JLINGZ esports content on Recast, such as gaming highlights and insights. Moreover, the organisation will utilise the video platform’s ‘unique’ monetisation model.

As a result of the deal, 85 percent of the revenue generated by Recast will be passed to the rights holder, JLINGZ Esports, while 15 percent is retained by the platform, Esports Insider understands.

JLINGZ Esports is a UK-based esports organisation owned by Manchester United and England footballer Jesse Lingard. The organisation currently competes in FIFA and Rainbow Six Siege.

Recast is a direct-to-customer video platform that connects rights holders directly to fans. It offers the ability to earn in-app credits called ‘Casts’ for both viewers and rights holders through microtransactions.

According to a release, Recast will give JLINGZ’ fans behind-the-scenes access to star names including Rainbow Six team captain Sam Williams, professional FIFA player and EA commentator Lisa Manley, and Lingard himself.

Andy Meikle, Recast Founder and CEO, commented: “We are delighted to be working with the JLINGZ team to bring fans closer to content from some of the best talent in esports. Particularly considering in-app currencies, micro-transactions and gamification are familiar to esports’ audiences, we are seeing great success for our esports partners on Recast.

“Growing at pace, esports needs to establish a stronger, sustainable model, and we are thrilled to have forward-thinking rights holders and names like Jesse trust Recast to help to capitalise on its potential.”

Recast claims to be able to increase content monetisation potential through its microtransaction technology.

Lingard commented: “I am excited to take this next step with [my] team JLINGZ. Esports is fast-paced, competitive, and has a community of dedicated fans. I can’t wait for them to see our amazing players in action and follow the team’s journey through Recast.”

The collaboration follows on from JLINGZ esports’ partnership with online gaming shop Boost Gaming earlier this week. In an interview with Esports Insider, Lingard stated that his organisation had “so many things already in the pipeline” when discussing JLINGZ esports’ commercial portfolio.

Esports Insider says: With two partnership announcements in 24 hours, and another partnership with The Chiefs earlier this month, JLINGZ is wasting no time. It will be interesting to see where and how the footballer-owned org expands from here.
