Twitch Streamer Beats COD Zombie World Record 20 Days Later

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 streamer Tom Phantasy sets an incredible world record by playing Zombies mode in the game for 20 days straight. Phantasy made it to round 255, beating the previous Japanese record holder “Chihiro-516”, who made it to round 216. Phantasy far surpassed it by almost 40 rounds.

For any doubters and skeptics out there, the record was live-streamed over twitch starting on July 2 and ended 20 days later, Thursday, July 22. He was only downed twice on rounds 220 and 249, both of which he would’ve gotten the record anyway, even if he didn’t continue.

Phantasy would only average about 13 hours a day with the rest to rest and recharge his batteries for more Black Ops 3 Zombies. His reason for playing this much a day was because after 24.8 days the game freezes and crashes. If he were to beat this record he would have to time his game playing out for long durations of time before it happens. Even taking a day of rest could’ve set him back from breaking this record.

Since the dawn of Call of Duty World at War, Zombie mode has played as a highly anticipated feature of the franchise. Gamers play together or by themselves against countless hordes of the undead army. Early rounds are quick and easy, however, after 40 rounds it becomes much harder and close to impossible.

The amount of commitment it takes to be the best of the best is not an easy thing to do, but Phantasy says it is not. It takes a certain time for a person to be committed more than anyone else to keep going well beyond and over the normal limits and boundaries we’re used to.
